Steve attributes his early love for building things to watching his do-it-yourself dad in action. He aspires to capture the essence of a building's history, and has led remodeling projects of more than 200 historically significant homes and the preservation of seven of San Francisco's treasured landmark buildings, earning Plath & Company four California Preservation Foundation awards. Steve is equally versed in building distinctive comtemporary homes, including a recent Steve Erhlich-designed residence.
Outside of work, Steve flexes his creative muscle by designing sets and acting in local theater productions, collecting and repairing vintage British sports cars, playing tennis and listening to any music from the sixties. He lives in San Anselmo with his wife.
JB joined Plath & Company in 2006, and promptly demonstrated his project management savvy by leading intricate projects ranging from ultra-modern new homes to historical Pacific Heights renovations. With nearly 20 years industry experience, JB became a partner in 2011; and in 2014, he stepped into the role of President. JB is committed to upholding founding partner Steve Plath's company vision of honesty, artistry, and excellence.
An avid outdoorsman, JB enjoys fly fishing and mountain biking in Marin, where he lives with his wife and three children.
A passion for fine carpentry and Victorian architecture made Tom a great fit when he joined the company in 1986. He became a partner in 1991, bringing meticulous technical and communication skills to Plath & Company's leadership. He has a reputation of deftly trouble-shooting complicated projects while delivering them on time and on budget. Among the many Historic Renovation projects Tom has led are The Gas Light Building (SF landmark 58), The McMullen House (SF landmark 123), and the detailed preservation and restoration of The Bourn Mansion (SF landmark 38).
Tom is a 28-year resident of San Francisco's Potrero Hill. He is a cycling enthusiast, but considers being a dad his greatest labor of love.
